Arizona Cardinals defensive coordinator Todd Bowles, who coached the team for four seasons before joining the team this season, spoke with reporters this week and said he’s excited about the team’s defensive improvement.
He was asked about what he thinks is behind the improvement.
“We were at the bottom of the league in sacks,” Bowles said.
“I think we got some good guys on defense and we’re moving in the right direction.
We’re a lot better on defense, and I think it’s going to come out of a lot of hard work.
I think the guys on our defense have gotten better and improved their technique.
We’ve got some young guys on that defense that are getting better, too, and they’re all going to be playing with some of the best talent we’ve had in a long time.
It’s going take time, but I think we’re going to see a lot more improvement this year.
I think the best part of this is that everybody wants to win.
I don’t think we’ve got a lot to prove.
We’re going in the direction we want to go, and that’s what it’s all about.”
It’s hard to know exactly how many players the Cardinals have left to sign in free agency, as they have no guaranteed contracts at the moment.
Bowles also said that it would be difficult to sign another player to a contract extension this offseason as they will need to keep some players for next season.
But he said he would not be surprised if they were able to sign several players.
“I think it will be difficult,” Bowled said.
“But I’m excited about it, and we just got to see what happens in the next two weeks.”
